As you know, at the proposal of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Kemelevich Tokayev, Republic Day – October 25 is now celebrated as a national holiday.
The military department of Yessenov University hosted a themed evening “Kazakhstan – Tugan Zherim, Tugan Elim!” dedicated to the Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The purpose of the evening is to develop a sense of Kazakhstani patriotism, love for the Motherland, and broaden the horizons of young people about significant events in the history of the country. 2nd year students prepared a theatrical performance related to the historical events of 1990, and also read patriotic poems and performed songs.
October 25 for our country is one of the most important dates in the history of Kazakhstan. It was on this day in 1990 that the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Kazakh SSR was adopted. In fact, this was the country’s first step on the path to independence.
The Declaration proclaimed the sovereignty of the Kazakh SSR and declared the political and legal foundations of Kazakhstan as an independent state. For the first time, it enshrined such principles of statehood as integrity, indivisibility and inviolability of territory, the development of the culture of peoples and their languages, and the strengthening of national identity.
